November 3rd Week
Not much to work on yet. Taking it day by day, if I get some trades great, if not, well I got other things to do. Only took 3 trades last week. Just need to make sure im waiting for proper cues, not getting ahead of the market.
Monday
5 on watch, 3 gapping away out of play. AMZN might be only thing im looking at today
I mean I took my eyes off it for 10 seconds no joke and it exploded. I got it, but not near with size I want. No adds. Just 1 entry I had to chase with market order to get it. Unreal. Looked at TSM for a moment to adjust tape and I looked it it and it was a few points over trigger level. Sucks. But win.
All out too early. Saw tape drip to 1min low, never took place on actual break, out and it made new HOD next tick.
Also because of BP I chose a smaller delta call. If I go too big, I can add a few times then done for the day and I didnt want that. I think I needed to. I only captured 50$ on that trade where as the other call would be up nearly 300$ with the bigger delta. I sacrificed the quality in case I needed to take other trades.
AMZN later gave it all back and came to LOD. Market sold off all morning.
Tuesday
4 on watch, 1 already gone premarket. BABA FUTU looking real good for a nice pop. Been seeing themes lately. A week or so ago solar started ripping along with EV, now pot stocks, and now maybe the giant China downturn has seen a nice bottom. Looking to see whose ready to pop the strongest 1st.
Tradestation screwing me again. Didnt load any L2 data for the options I was looking at, missed both FUTU and BABA because I had no idea what they were actually trading at. I spammed the hit market button and shit shot up a dollar 50 higher than I thought it would be at.
Ended up using all of my buying power on that 1 trade. So 2 minutes into the day done already.
The open bell is the most important part of my trading day. The 1st 30 seconds can be make or break on everything.
Tradestation has done this to me far too many times, I keep thinking itll load and be ready to roll at the bell somedays, and it isnt. And im losing money because of it.
I think im going to have to switch back to Lightspeed and try out there options. This cant keep happening.
Wednesday
Good looking setups still. AAPL main focus today. DDOG second. Market still up and strong, bit of PB into bell, Q at R while SPY at S. Might mean chop.
AAPL 1st to trigger, kinda chase as it was 50cents below trigger, in but no momo. Waiting.
Hit BO level, no break, no momo so have to deal with PB still.
Push into it again, no vwap real test so no chance for me to add. Broke, take half on 1min.
250k on offer 152, busted.
Still pushing into next BO level. Either way take profit, and taken. Holding rest possible add
Pulled in for flash to retest D level, but still no vwap test, didnt add. Turned higher and broke HOD and BO level. Will take half again.
Perhaps overstayed welcome, could have bailed all on loss of 9ma and TL but held last bit. QQQ got cruuuushed and AAPL fell, lost vwap and i bailed rest before breakeven.
Need market to reset and look stronger or clear bullish scenario in AAPL to re enter. Longs in trouble this morning.
This boy is not pulling back. So if it does, I need in it.
Thursday
Market looking weaker. I have shorts on watch again for first time in a couple weeks. Well see what happens. Nothing A+ but some good longs. I have them ranked and ready to focus.
TSM and TXN a shame. NVDA earnings gapping up all semi names so left without me
ABBV triggered with big vol, took partial on slowdown. Then right away lost vwpa and breakeven so cut last bit for loss. Small win.
Hit D triggered again under vwap, seeing a stall, maybe re entry will be tight as vwap just above, close enough for me ill take it still. But didnt reclaim, will have to wait on vwap reclaim for re entry
I am rethinking my thought process on TSM. Pmkt already broke D, was going to open above into pmkt hi as was NVDA and other semi names. I could have take then pmkt hi break at the bell, it did have a clear run up right into it before the bell and would not have been the worst idea. Semi names clearly strong with theme. Volume already there. Clear trend and run into bell. Why not? I was concerned with chasing it and not getting it at the level I wanted, but its still a momentum trade with a lot of variables aligning for me. I think given vol, PA, theme, location, its a fine trade to take. Pmkt hi break.
Friday
Smallish list. Semis ripping. TXN focus for today. We keep grinding higher.
Odd spikes premarket again, nothing to do though, lost it at open. LLY pulled in but spread is just stupid big.
TXN trying, wont lose it building under vwap. Not clear entry to take on break above, will have to wait.
Getting above on no vol, other semis leading it. Low rvol, no options, no reason to force a trade. Waiting.
Super slow week again. 4 trades. 3 wins. +$210
Preparedness seemed to be the big issue. AMZN AAPL BABA ABBV all big wins. But I was not sized up on any of them. I didnt get 2nd adds on any of them and total MFE on the 4 was +9.5R, MAE was -.6 meaning wins right from the start, barely negative, barely had to wait to be profitable. Captured a total of only +2.3R though.
It seems to be tough for me lately to want to push. I am clearly recognizing I am trading less, but im also catching good wins. There isnt really a reason for me to not trade larger just because I am trading less. If anything, given my win rate, selection and performance of trades im taking, I should be trading them larger. Ive been really focused on quality over quantity.
Watchlist has been around 5 stocks a day. Ive decreased the amount of names on my main watchlist I scan through everyday. I am getting good at ignoring everything except the stocks that I know I have edge in those setups.
Although now that im recognizing this, its bad timing. Next week is thanksgiving so im expecting a much slower market.
Either way bottom line, market is hot. Things are moving very well. Im catching good names, watching good setups. I should be pressing. When I have a good feel for things and the market is ripping, those are the times to step it up.
